Golden Acrylic Heavy Body

These 100% acrylic, smooth, thick colors are offered in a large assortment of unique pure pigments. There are no fillers, extenders, opacifiers, toners or dyes added. They render excellent permanency and lightfastness. Each color is formulated differently depending on the nature of the pigment. Colors that tolerate higher pigment loads dry to a more opaque, matte finish. Colors that are more reactive and do not accept high pigment loading dry to a glossy finish and tend to be more transparent.

Golden Open Acrylics

OPEN Acrylics feature uniquely relaxed working characteristics and a remarkable ability to resist skinning and remain wet on the palette during long painting sessions. Working time varies according to how thickly the material is applied. Thin applications tack up, allowing additional layers to be applied and blended. Thicker applications may be worked for hours. They are versatile and can be used for techniques where acrylics are normally challenging to use including portraiture, plein air painting, mono printing and screen printing.

Golden High Flow Acrylics

These acrylic paints have an ink-like consistency that lends itself to a wide range of techniques. From fine line detail work to broad strokes, these acrylics are suitable for many different applications including calligraphy, mixed media, airbrush, refillable markers, technical pens and brushes. Designed for artists who want to achieve fine line detail, standing effects and level colors. The line includes natural earth colors, core colors, iridescent colors and fluorescent colors.

Golden Mediums, Gels, Pastes & Grounds:

Mediums

GAC (short for Golden Artist Colors)

Specialty Acrylic Polymers are based on 100% acrylic polymer emulsions. The GACs are useful as mediums or modifiers of acrylic paints. GACs can be used to extend acrylic colors, to regulate transparency, create glazes, increase gloss, reduce viscosity or improve adhesion and film integrity. GAC polymers can also be used for binding pigment solids for various effects and surfaces. Unlike the other GOLDEN Mediums and Gels, GAC Acrylic Polymers have only a minimum amount of thickeners, levelers, defoamers and surfactants to ensure good film formation.

Gels

Gel Mediums offer many ways to build texture. We offer five consistencies from our most viscous Extra Heavy Gel to Soft Gel. Each gel is available in Gloss, Semi-Gloss and Matte finishes. They can be used to create glazes, extend paint and change finishes. Gels are essentially colorless paint, as theyutilize the same 100% acrylic polymers as acrylic paint. Gels are also excellent adhesives for collage and mixed media, they dry with excellent flexibility with chemical, water and UV resistance.

Pastes

Pastes can be used to achieve a variety of effects and expressions. When used in conjunction with acrylic colors they broaden working properties and expand creative possibilities. Unlike gels, pastes are opaque because they contain Marble Dust or other fillers that create a white or clay-tone finish with a variety of textures and properties. Molding Paste can also be used to create foundations for painting either to create texture over a smoother surface, or to smooth out a textured surface. The absorbent qualities of Molding Paste make it suitable as a ground for nearly every painting and drawing media.

Grounds

Absorbent Ground is a fluid acrylic medium that dries to a porous, paper-like surface. Applied over gessoed canvas, it facilitates raw canvas-like staining and watercolor effects. Lightfast, permanent and flexible. This is a Health Labeled (HL) Product, and not for use by children.

Pastel Ground is an acrylic preparation for pastels on canvas and other supports. It creates toothy surface similar to papers used with pastel and chalk. For an even rougher texture Fine or Coarse Pumice Gel can be added. Acrylic Ground for Pastel can also be tinted with acrylic colors.
